McLaren Vale

Drive 40 minutes south of Adelaide and you will find one of Australia’s oldest winemaking regions, McLaren Vale. Known as the region where the vines meet the sea, McLaren Vale has a Mediterranean climate with cool maritime influences that leads to variation throughout the region. Different soil types can be found in this region, including terra rossa soils, light loam over clay, rendzina soils, soldolic, and Bay of Biscay soils. The region is known for their full – bodied reds that are rich, concentrated wines, full of flavor and tannins. Much of the award-winning wines produced in the region today come from 100-year old vines.
