Best described as "Philosophical Winemaking", Bass Phillip uses a holistic approach..."the vineyard makes the wines". The wines are, as a result, a clear expression of the unique vineyard site, reflecting the character and attributes of the soil. This property is a 'gravity feed winery'; no pumps or filters are utilized, and to ensure the highest quality, all wines are matured in French oak casks.

All wines produced by Bass Phillip are designed to improve with cellaring and during this time they will develop into rich, generous wines with complex, heady flavors.

The wines of Bass Phillip have a recognizable flavor and structure that can be attributed to its unique terroir. This occurs not only because of the site and climate in which these grapes are grown, but because of the viticultural approach with close planting, low yields and no irrigation.

These methods have been employed since 1983 and the effects are now showing with better acidity levels, fruit and structural balance in the wines.
